That's what I am thinking. I keep referring to it as Plan B retirement fund. If my work pension goes to plan and the stock market doesn't crash just as I retire. (As happened to a lot of people I know just recently) then I would smoke them. If it does then sell the smokes (Rich people always have money) and still have a happy retirement!

That's not entirely mad though is it?
Isn't that what serious collectors do? Buy 2, use/smoke 1 & store the other as an investment

I sure will post lots of pics. I haven't had 100% confirmation yet..But looking at my bid compared to what the winning bid was, I'm hopeful it was me, as my bid was higher!
I've placed an order with Cgars & spoke with Mitchell earlier & he said that they work through their list alphabetically, so hopefully I'll hear something tomorrow, as my surname is Walton, I'm sure to be well down the list..
I'm looking forward to getting stuck into them, as they're from 2009 they should be really good smokes. I'm thinking of doing a bit of a bombing run too..

Congratulations to you Wayne!!!I looked at this lot myself as fancied a jar for a little while and as I have commented elsewhere it seems it be one of the few lots that went for a reasonable price. Please post tons of pictures for us to drool over so wont feel so bad at losing out on our lots!

Nice lots there Simon. I`m not sure why but part of me was expecting them to be 25k plus humidors. Maybe its having the name Bolivar that does it

Bit late to join in the discussion..But I put a bid on the H Upmann jar of 25 Noellas - 2009
Hopefully it may be good news..I should find out tomorrow if my bid was successful, looking at my bid & the price the lot went for, I was above the final price, so fingers crossed..

Thinking about it, if money was no object what's to stop somebody placing a bid of ?50K on every single lot?

It's utterly ridiculous and dare I say bad form, but at the end of the day the value of any lot is dependent solely upon what an individual is willing to pay.

bankers? how'd you complete with that kind of money.

I saw on smokeymo's blog that lot 317 (1992 humidor) went for ?26,500

Some of the vintage Montys seemed very reasonable at around ?300 a box.

I would never be able to control my spending at auction, the atmosphere is too exciting!
