It was not my intention to cause a stir... So sorry if I have. I was just curious as to why we could not mention international sellers. It would be useful to know which ones were on the level but if that is not possible here then... No sweat. James.

Take CAO for example, they were taken out of UK circulation last year after having fairly wide availability. I bought the last dregs that mysmokingshop had because Simon there explained that the distributor was pulling the range from UK shelves. It wasn't because they weren't selling.... They just decided that it wasn't worth it to them to keep them in the UK.

I think a lot of the NCs don't sell over here, because once you add taxes etc they ramp up to Cuban prices...and people tend to then resort to a Cuban. You can get NCs in the UK, cgars, jj fox et al do a selection.

Could our sponsors not get in small quantities of the unavailable American market sticks to sell as samplers?

With the reviews Peejay and others have put up for some of the NC sticks they look really good, and we are clearly missing out.

It must be worth while for Cgars to look into it?

If that rule protects Deano, this forum and us. Then I'm happy it's in place.

Would it be nice to be able to discuss legitimate international retailers that do everything by the book, so I could purchase cigars unavailable in this country.... Yep.

Would it be worth the influx of dodgy posts that would require heavy filtration and moderation.... Nope.

Keep the site as it is, it has clear purpose and direction. If people want to take the risk of buying abroad they don't need to be egged on, on an open forum.

Edit: I see the man has spoken ^^^^

Nah I'm afraid that just lends itself to confusion regarding the discussion of said suppliers. Not only that, but we would be actively promoting these suppliers by mentioning them (even in negative reviews).

Ultimately mate, it's not something we're going to allow, in any form, sorry.

yupp, too many variables and everyone is just playing safe than sorry. taxes are treated incredibly anally in every government. UK and Canada as well. and especially the USA. every forum dealing with taxable items such as booze, cars, and tobacco includes this for safe measure. it also prevents proctoring by HMRC for you mates so you can have a decent amount of privacy in this Connected World of ours.
shitty as it sounds, that's just the way it is nowadays.
