Caol Ila 12 defo is one to try if you like Ardbeg 10. Port Charlotte too. Another I'd recommend is Ledaig 10, whilst not an Islay whisky it's a great peated drop and has a nice maritime (salty) taste to it.

I've had a bottle of Caol Ila 12 and a few drams if Bowmore. Really enjoyed the Call Ila, Bowmore not so much. Caol Ila is fantastic though, one of my favourites. Port Charlotte is another excellent one, thoroughly enjoyed those drams.

Agree with the above, would throw Caol Ila into the mix, love the 12 and the 18.

Lagavulin 16 and Bowmore 15 are both very nice Islay drams.Originally posted by moppy View PostNice to see a thriving whisk(e)y thread!
I love a good Islay and having finished my bottle of Ardbeg 10 recently, been considering what will be my next bottle. Laphroaig 10 is probably my go to bottle, but fancy trying something new to broaden my horizons.
Had the opportunity to try some Octomore 12.1 at a bar recently which was utterly delicious, but at £200 I don't think I'll be getting a bottle 😄

Had a couple of drams of old style Glendronach last night that were both absolutely outstanding - an '09 bottling of the 15 year old revival, far superior to the newer offering and a 16 yo Port wood from Murray McDavid. Sublime stuff.

This was lovely too. But at 99£ a bottle was a bit too much for me. Look at that colour. It's a CGars bottling. But lovely sherry finish.

Trying this for the first time tonight, never really ventured into the Arran distillery, but this is delicious, the old ‘Christmas in a bottle’ but I am a fan of sherried whiskies, glendronach being my favourite of all time after being introduced by Wigan. Spicy on the finish too, but that might be the 55.8% talking!
Would recommend!

One of my favourite drams from last year. Just something a bit different about it. I've ordered a bottle as part of my Dad's birthday gift I was that impressed by it.Originally posted by ShaazK View Post
Thanks man. I’ll keep an eye out for that one

I'd recommend that you try the Glenallachie 11yo Grattamaco wine cask if you can find a bottle.Originally posted by ShaazK View Post
How’s this one?
I’ve only had one whiskey finished in a red wine cask, a Japanese one few years back, which was a bit medicinal for my taste.

[QUOTE=potpest;n750864]Not had the sherry but I picked up another bottle of the Amarone Cask recently, couldn't leave the first one alone.
Interesting, will have to look out for this one.

I had a Chateau Neuf Du Pape cask edradour years ago that I liked. I've had a bottle of this but can't remember exactly how it tasted, finished it a while ago. Don't remember it being medicinal, some nice fruit in it as far as I recall.Originally posted by ShaazK View Post
