I forgot to mention that I had the bottle of of Aldi Glen Marnoch 18 yo a while back. A nice and smooth sipping whisky with sweetness and a hint of salt and smoke. Well worth £40 I'd say.

£40 for an 18yo you can’t go wrong I’m sure. Good to know it delivers flavour as well. Sounds like it punches well above its weight!

Good spirits Co in town is very good if you’re wanting a shop. Other than that what are your preferences when it comes to whisky and style of? Depending on that there’s likely to be distilleries that are close enough

Highly recommend Glenallachie whisky. Probably my favourite distillery at the moment.

Picked up Aldis Christmas offering today. Worth a punt at £39.99 a bottle.

Not quite a Pappy but Dalwhinne Winters Gold is only 24 a bottle on amazon right now

Yes, prices on the secondary market are crazy. The cheapest that I have seen for the 23 YO is €5000 and the bottle sold the same day.

This is the insanity behind cult followings like we have with Pappy. The distillers know and love it, but they haven’t moved their RRP. It’s just the secondary market that nails it. They use it as a tool to allow their distribution to make some nice cream and keep carrying their other standard margin brands

It’s the biggest load of BS to be honest. I paid about $650 (RRP) for all 3 bottles from a distributor that did me a favour.

To buy them off a retailer or secondary market costs roughly £12,500 for the 3.
